A Distribution Group is a list of email addresses. Email sent to the list (which has its own email address but no actual mailbox) gets forwarded on to the members in their own mailbox.
A Shared Mailbox is a single mailbox that multiple individuals have permission to access and view. Since it’s an actual mailbox, it can be viewed in Outlook as such.
